I feel stormy weather moving in

I'm in the midst of a terrible snowstorm--perhaps one of the worst Chicago has seen in recent years--but I'm not worried.  Fitness junkies and vidiots alike know how to prepare for such things.

Since I'll probably be snowed-in for the next 24 hours, I'll need some motivation to get me exercising, and nothing provides motivation for working out like music.  I thought I'd share a playlist--Youtube style-- of some of my favorite tunes to workout to.

Workout playlist 1:

1.) "It's Raining Men" (Weather Girls and Geri Halliwell): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGLZqDXau98 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tio-YWTBHo --> I always secretly loved this song and I find it is excellent for exercising.  I think maybe it plays to this fantasy I have that if I get slim and fit, it will start raining men...outside my apartment. ;)

Bonus video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9WzV8bKKhQ --> I'm such an X-Phile!

2.) "Call on Me" (Eric Prydz): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_fCqg92qks --> It's a remix of Steve Winwood's "Valerie" with repetitive beats and lyrics and its video objectifies the female body.  In other words, it's perfect for exercising!

3.) "Mr. Vain" (Culture Beat): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvgUdrzGNys --> It's so 90's, I love it!  This one definitely gets me in the mood to pump some serious iron.

4.) "Move This" (Technotronic): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CuCxLjZQJqs --> How could you not want to move to a song that suggests you "shake that body" ?

5.) "September" (Earth, Wind & Fire): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfLEc09tTjI --> I saw them in concert last June, and they sounded just as great they did in the 70's...granted I wasn't alive then, so I can only assume. Regardless, some music is timeless and never goes out of style. Plus, I was born in September, so I gotta give a shout-out to my fellow September babies!

6.) "Let's Groove" (Earth, Wind & Fire):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XOY7lsBVpo&feature=related --> Can you tell that I really like Earth, Wind & Fire?  My parents did a good job of raising me. ;)  Now go on and glide like a 747!

7.) "Yeah!" (Usher and co.): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiXbRBS5Z58 --> I remember dancing to this song at my high school prom.  I enjoyed grooving to the song then, and I still enjoy it now.

8.) "Magic Carpet Ride" (Steppenwolf): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEEzbFxEbB8 --> I agree with the Youtube user who said: "this is pretty much the best song ever...am I wrong?"  No, krisx15, you are definitely not wrong!

9.) "Rhythm is a Dancer" (Snap): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMPM1q_Uyxc --> Another perennial favorite from the 90's.  Music like this always lifts my mood, no matter what.

10.) "Sæglópur" (Sigur Ros): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgEGVKwURKc --> After all that pumping and jumping, I need something tranquil and serene to cool me down.  This absolutely one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life.  I also listen to it when I need moments of inspiration, or I just want to sit back and relax, savoring the little moments in life.

It's time for my workout soon, so I hope all of you are staying safe and warm.  Cheers!
