So after ranting and raving about my fat ass, I think it's time I move forward and be realistic about my upcoming fitness plans.
If you have read this blog thoroughly, or even mildly perused it a few times, you would know that I have an obsession with making up rotations and not following through with them. You would also know that I despise following systems as written. I think I must face the fact that despite my fears of boredom and burning out, I probably should follow the original schedule to keep me on track and get the best results.
You see, I have this idea in my mind that if I create these elaborate rotations with a new DVD/workout to try each day of the week, I'll a.) never get bored in the middle of a fitness rotation and b.) I will have this incredibly well-rounded schedule that targets every aspect of fitness. Unfortunately, I tend to get too carried when creating these routines.
In other words, I need to stick with what the experts know and not with what my ego thinks it knows.
So starting next Monday, I'm going to take a chance with Tracy Anderson's Metamorphosis Hipcentric program. Although I also own the continuity program that proceeds the 90 day regiment, I will likely move on to the next system I own--which could include a rotation of P90X, Chalean Extreme, or Supreme 90 (just to name a few).
Quite honestly, I own enough workout systems and accompanying equipment to get me through the next year or so. Luckily--after temptation got the best of me earlier this year-- I don't have any real urges to buy new DVDs or systems. Although the latest P90X coming out this holiday season looks mighty tempting, I likely will not acquire it until sometime next, or maybe the year after. I'm pretty sure it's not going anywhere and it will be nice to wait for the reviews for a change.
No more jumping on bandwagons for me...at least for awhile.
To accompany this plan, I aim to blog 3x/week. On Mondays, you'll get to hear my weekly playlists--courtesy of Grooveshark. Wednesdays, I'll post my mid-week thoughts and musings. By the weekend, I'll give a summary of my progress, my thoughts, etc. During certain pivotal points, I'll share information such as inches and weight lost. If all goes well, I'd like to think I can post progress pics...but we'll see about that one.
I know what you are thinking: "Hey, haven't we done this dance before?"
"You are all talk, but have not walked to walk."
Yup, it's true. One glance at my blog history and it's pretty obvious that I have schemed up plans and never bothered to even move from square one.
So how is this any different? Well, for starters I already have my playlists in the blog post queue. I know it's not much, but it's a good start. Second, I don't have much to lose. I've already alluded to my current personal problems and demons that I'm fighting, but I feel that I have already hit rock bottom and can only go up from here. Exercising, eating healthy and working on my overall health is one necessary step toward moving in the right direction. It doesn't mean all my problems will be solved, but why not start with the one thing that use to bring me so much pleasure?
After all, what was the point of starting this blog in the first place if I cannot live up to its title?
Well, I'm off to some R&R before turning in early tonight. First thing tomorrow morning, I'm getting myself reacquainted with Tracy's Mat Workout and maybe one of her Perfect Design workouts on Sunday before embarking on the 90 day journey that is Metamorphosis.
Have a good weekend! Cheers!
